Written by Matthew (also called Levi), a former tax collector turned disciple, this Gospel presents Jesus as the promised Messiah and rightful King of Israel. Likely composed between A.D. 60–70, it bridges the Old and New Testaments by repeatedly showing how Jesus fulfills Old Testament prophecy.
